Kinge Awaits NY Compensation

A woman will be in claims court tomorrow morning at 10 to learn how much money she will be compensated with from New York state for being falsely accused in the murder of a family of four.

Last year, a Syracuse judge found that Shirley Kinge, 73, was the victim of malicious prosecution and negligent supervision of the state investigator who planted fake fingerprint evidence linking her to the Harris family murder outside Ithaca in 1989.

The prime suspect was Kinge’s son, who was shot to death by troopers in February 1990.

Shirley Kinge was later convicted of burglary, arson, and hindering prosection as authorities claimed she helped her son cover up the slayings.

She spent two years in prison before her conviction was overturned in 1992.
