Golden boy Michael Phelps has gotten himself into some trouble. Phelps, who earned himself eight gold medals last Olympics, was photographed by a British tabloid inhaling from a marijuana pipe. The picture was published Sunday in News of the World. The tabloid said that the picture was taken in November at a party Phelps attended at the University of South Carolina.
Phelps released the following statement:
"I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again."
This is not the first time Phelps has been in trouble. After the 2004 Olympics, Phelps was arrested for a DUI.
When testing for banned substances, Phelps has passed every test.
