President Obama went to a town hall meeting in Elkhart, Indiana today to win support for the $827 billion economic rescue plan. Obama says that the time for action is now, even if the plan isn't perfect.Elkhart, Indiana is a county where unemployment has affected over 15 percent of the workforce. The president said he came to the Midwest to assure people that he's working hard to turn the economy around.
"The nation is facing an economic crisis as deep and as dire as any since the Great Depression," said Obama.
